There are four isometries, or distance preserving
mappings of the hyperbolic plane.
The simplest is the reflection isometry (inversion in the Poincaré disc.) The other three are composites of two reflections about pairs of intersecting, parallel or ultra parallel lines. A triangle is mapped under a reflection as shown. The vertices of the triangle and those of its image lie on d-lines perpendiculer to the reflecting line. These d-lines are all ultra parallel to each other. |
